Kirby Gets a Big Boy Car Seat

There are lots of easy contests with great prizes to enter requiring only a picture, a comment, or a follow on FaceBook or Twitter.  These we love to do.  It's quick and easy, there are some fabulous prizes, and if you win you receive an email.  If not, you know you just might win the next one.  Kirby goes through spells when he doesn't win anything, then he will hit those lovely little spurts of winning several things.

Kirby must be on one of his little winning spurts because he just won a fabulous prize from Fido Friendly Blog which is an extension of Fido Friendly Magazine.  We love to announce their contests on Kirby's FaceBook Page and probably enter two or three contests ourselves each month.  This particular contest was for the chance for three random winners to win one of three Solvit travel products: A Pet Vehicle Safety Harness (MSRP $20-$30, depending on size),  A Jumbo Tagalong On-Seat Booster (MSRP $79), or the Deluxe Sta-Put Hammock Seat Cover (MSRP $65).

Kirby has a Solvit car seat we purchased when he was a very small puppy.  He still uses it but has outgrown it to the point he can only lay down in a curled up position so we knew we needed to upgrade to a larger size where he could stretch out while sleeping.  Because of his gained weight (just shy of 15 pounds) over the past two years of growing from puppy to adult dog we have had to replace the hooks for stronger hooks on the strap going around the headrest.  Otherwise it looks and works just like new.  Eagerly I entered the contest with my eye on that booster car seat.

Lo and behold, a few weeks later we received an email from Fido Friendly saying we had won the Pet Vehicle Safety Harness.  I really wanted that booster seat but figured I could use the harness for our foster dogs.  A few days later I received an email from Solvit wanting me to call them with our mailing address and the harness size we would need.

Here is where our story takes a little turn.  Talking to Jo with Solvit I hesitantly asked if it would be possible to trade the harness and pay the difference for the booster seat.  We had been talking about their wonderful products so knowing I have been a longtime fan she graciously said she was sending us the booster seat in place of the harness at no extra cost to us.  Thrilled would be an understatement!

Not wanting to appear ungrateful by exchanging our prize I did contact Carol from Fido Friendly by email who replied, "no problem at all - tell your story and enjoy many happy travels!"

This prize is not only fabulous but something he really needed. So our deepest Thank You's to Fido Friendly and Solvit!  Kirby is pawsomely happy in his new big boy size car seat!

Hey, I can see out the front window sitting down!

I'm a big boy now!

Kirby was in no mood to lay down even for a picture but I can tell you this booster seat is large enough that he can stretch out comfortably whenever he wants to.

Solvit Jumbo Tagalong™ On-Seat Booster #62349 & 62350

This On-Seat Booster cradles pets in comfort and security as they cruise along. This unique booster utilizes Safe-T-Core™ technology, a system of molded panels that fasten together permanently, creating a lightweight, yet super-strong structure, tested to 175 lbs. This rigid internal structure integrates with the vehicle seat belt to provide added security for pets. Installs securely in one minute in either front or back seat.

A roomy, fully padded interior gives pets up to 30 lbs room to relax and is perfect for multiple pets. The inside basket dimensions are 18 inches wide by 14 inches deep at bottom, 19.5 inches wide by 14.5 inches deep at top, and the sides are 8 inches tall. The outside dimensions of the entire unit are 22 inches wide by 17 inches tall by 17 inches deep. The inside floor of the basket is nine inches above the vehicle seat so pets can easily see out while traveling.

Unlike foam-based booster seats, the On-Seat Booster will not trap odors – cleans easily to stay looking and smelling fresh. Adjustable safety leash included. Available in quilted polyester with sheepskin liner (standard version) or quilted microfiber with quilted plaid liner (deluxe version). Warranted for one year against defects in materials and workmanship. Weighs 7 lbs.
