Best Bully Sticks

I've known about Best Bully Sticks for a while now since they have honored us by posting some of our recipes on their blog. I think they have a great selection with prices to match. However, we have a local co-op so I have always purchased Kirby's bully sticks there. I naively thought, "What's the difference, a pizzle is a pizzle". Well, I'm here to admit I was wrong, very wrong.

First, let me explain what a pizzle is in case you don't know. It's the penis from a bull, hence a bully stick. I don't allow Kirby to chew rawhide which doesn't digest easily so these are the closest he gets while still remaining relatively safe. He probably loves these more than any chew ever created in the history of mankind! On average he gets one every couple of weeks. The one side effect is his breath, his stinking, nasty breath. There is no point brushing his teeth and tongue in between his chewing his beloved pizzle so I have to endure his horrid breath until bedtime when the pizzle is taken away and teeth are brushed.

Callie graciously sent Kirby a package containing several bully sticks which was wonderful since our foster, Kora, could have her very own. They both loved the 10" curly bully sticks, the 12" standard bully sticks, and the 12" braided bully sticks.

Back to where I had to admit I was wrong - all bully sticks are not made equal. These have a very low odor which meant neither Kirby nor Kora had stinky breath! Hallalueah! Another benefit which I consider so important is they are100% natural free-range cattle pizzles made in the USA.

Funny coincidence is when we were in Atlanta a few months back we purchased a package of frozen pizzles which I dehydrated. It was easy to do and they also had a low odor factor, but I just found it so gross that I had to wear gloves. I'll still make my own once in a while just cos it's cheaper even though  mine didn't come out as big as these are. Apparently raw liver I can handle, raw pizzles not so much!

As you can see, both dogs loved them which they devoured with such gusto. I dont let Kirby, or any foster, have access to chews while I am away so every evening after dinner they each stayed busy whittlin away allowing me to get some work done. I love them so much I decided to place an ongoing order and become an affiliate. Kirby and Kora give Best Bully Sticks 4 paws and a wag!

The Doodie Pack

Have you seen the Doodie Pack? It’s an American-made lightweight backpack that comes in three sizes based on the dog’s weight and girth for dogs from 8 lbs to 180 pounds starting at just $29.95.  Each pack is made from a durable nylon for easy care with three adjustable straps for a custom fit.

Its roomy pockets on either side let your dog easily carry whatever you put in the pack up to the recommended 25% of your dog's body weight and is endorsed by trainers as an effective training tool for dogs who need jobs to perform. The reflective trim is an added safety bonus for night time walking.

I was concerned about the fit since Kirby has a long torso with short legs making coats often times difficult to fit properly.  I wasn't disappointed with the small size. Kirby ran and played as he explored the backyard even chasing a frog at one point.  The backpack never became lopsided or hindered him in any way. A larger dog could even carry his own water bottle with ease.

I mean, seriously, how cute is this? I wish I had thought to ask to add the monogramming for only $8.00 but I know someone who can do it for us.  It will be a great advertisement when we attend the festivals in the spring and summer. You have no idea how many people ask what kind of dog he is! (he can even carry his own business cards).

The Doodie Pack comes in several stunningly beautiful colors sure to please any barkinista. This was the hard part for me. I ultimately went with the royal blue since I wanted it to be noticeable but still blend with his harness when we are out and about.

They also carry some great accessories we love such as Flush Puppies poop bags, hand sanitizers, the Lickity Stick, mini safety lights, and, our favorite, a canine first aid kit which easily fits in the Doodie Pack pockets.

So my question is does your dog have a Doodie Pack of his/her own? Or are you ordering one now from their website? Inquiring minds want to know!

Disclosure: Kirby won this Doodie Pack and accessories in a photo contest. Our opinion is our own based on our experience and we do recommend this product.

Sure Fit Pet Cover

I love color! Every room in my house is swathed in color, in fact the only white in my house is the trim and doors. I especially love my crimson couch.  It's the perfect size, super comfy, and the color is divine.  With Kirby, two cats and the inevitable foster dog, it can take a beating.

That's where Sure Fit comes to the rescue! Their one piece pet covers are an easy and budget-friendly way to protect furniture from dogs, cats, pet fur, and stains. The covers come in reversible suedes, sherpa and waterproof fabrics with several colors and floral patterns.  They install quickly and easily - just drape over your furniture and protect the seat, back and arms from pet wear and tear.  They also make matching covers for love seats and chairs.

I chose the soft suede in chocolate. This classic diamond quilted pet cover reverses to a fleecy sherpa with ultra-soft pile providing two looks for the price of one.  It's 100% polyester with fill and faux sherpa backing making it machine washable.

I like to use it when we have a foster in residence since it most definitley looks better than the customary bed sheet I've used in the past.  It looks great but my only complaint would be that it doesn't easily stay in place which can be aggravating.

Overall, I give it 4 paws since, even though it easily gets disheveled, it does an excellent job of protecting my cherished couch.

Disclosure: I received a free $50 coupon to spend at PetFoodDirect.com which I used to purchase the Sure Fit furniture cover. This is my opinion based on my results with the product.
